ARTSOME is a studio that specializes in painting of icons, frescoes, murals and other Christian images.

     Gligor Stefanov, B.F.A., M.F.A., and Mare T. Stefanov, B.Arch. founded it in the early 90s in London, UK. Today, the studio is settled in Windsor, ON, Canada and it full fields the needs for religious paintings of the Orthodox Christians on the North American continent.

   The broad expertise of ARTSOME in the field of visual arts is attested by competition of more than a thousand artworks and projects in studio and on-site.

     The co-owner, master iconographer Gligor Stefanov has 18 one-man shows and more than 120 group exhibitions in many countries, including participation at the “1993 International Venice Biennale”.

     He graduated from the Belgrade Academy of Fine Arts, where he also received his Master’s degree of Fine Arts.

     Mare T. Stefanova is graduated architect and interior designer from the University of Skopje. She has assisted in research of architectural documentation and drawings for buildings of historical interest for the Institute of Preservation of National Heritage. Also, she has made many drawings and designs for the Institute of Urban Housing Development (Kavadarci, Macedonia), National Trust (England), Colonial Cabinets (Windsor, ON) and for private clients.  

     Artsome has provided hundreds of icons for many church, private and public collections.

     Largest iconographic project is the church Saint Nicholas in Windsor with 390 figures from which 52 are life size.

Iconography in the churches Saint Demetrius in Windsor, ON and Saint Demetrius  in West Palm Beach, Fl are work in progress.

   The studio has participated (with CCW) in one of the major conservation projects of our time Uppark House (Royal Property) in England. Uppark’s ornamental decoration on ceilings (total of 6000 square feet) after the destruction was rebuild from the half million separated elements.

In the 1995, the project won British National Award for conservation.

    The owners and the company have received 12 national and international awards for visual arts.

    Mare and Gligor are members of Pan Orthodox Iconographic Association of North America.
